.270
.270 .... the once-favourite calibre, especially north of the border.
In our opinion (June 2010!), WELL overdue to make a big comeback -
just as soon as the shooting Press decide to push this one as 'back in fashion'.
The trouble with the .270 was always the 'bark' of the report,
and with poorly balanced rifles there was sometimes quite severe recoil.
Conversely, the beauty and appeal of this calibre was the 'forgiving' nature
of the round, which somehow delivers a better 'hit' than bigger bullets,
and dumps the energy to a greater degree.
Today, widely available to all, we have the options of sound moderators
and / or muzzle brakes to decimate the noise and / or recoil.
These rifles ARE just waiting to be rediscovered -
but why wait for the journalists to tell you that?
Very light, a great all round, classic rifle from a legendary manufacturer.
